A year has passed since the peaceful demonstration against electricity price increase ended by violence.

On that day more than 230 protesters were detained. To date, no proper investigation was carried out and no official has been held accountable for his violent actions. Let me remind you that the demonstrators were kept in police departments without a legal status more than 3 hours required by law. Most detained persons could not use the services of an attorney because of obstacles created by the police. Those who were given the witness’ status weren’t released after interrogation and they were deprived of their freedom for hours under the pretext of checking the use of drugs or alcohol. Locations of some of the detained people were unknown for their relatives. The police prevented the presence of media and used force against journalists covering the meeting.
