Dear colleges,
Sasna Tsrer group (ST) demands the release of political prisoners and the resignation of the president of Armenia Serj Sargsyan. This demand is favored by many people in Armenia, who are deeply disappointed in the large-scale corruption, social injustice in the country, poverty, and migration, as well as the impossibility of changing the system of government through elections and referendums, given their continuous rigging.
Many see the country’s future via armed rebellion as a last resort for changes, thus more and more people are joining civil actions in support of the rebels in Yerevan. This is not an action of violence or terrorism as the government wants to show it in local and international media. This is an explosion of Armenian people who have lived under injustice and political prosecution, lies, and poverty for over 20 years. In April of 2016, there were more than 120 casualties in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Azerbaijan, which most of the people saw as a result of corruption and non-action by the government. In fact, this is a protest against the government and the president.
This is Armenian Police official video that is 90% lie about the members of Sasna Tsrer group and about 5-6 days of fight here in Yerevan:

“Transparency International” requires suspending all international assistance allocated to Police of Armenia. This is the report of Transparency International on this issue: http://m.mamul.am/am/news/88286
We join this demand and ask you to act.
As you may already know, all hostages are released, but the armed group members are not going to put down their weapons and want to rejoin with the people on the streets and to build new Armenia without corruption and poverty. The members of the group are deprived of communications, food, and medical treatment.
The government announced that they are seeking peaceful solution through negotiations, but instead, the government cut off communication and food supply, and already twice attempted to take down the members of ST, although it is violation of laws to perform military actions within populated district in Yerevan without evacuating citizens of surrounding buildings and without announcing special regime. The police do not care about human lives as it happened during the first day of conflict when one police officer died because of police actions.
This is a mass non-violent public disobedience against the president Serj Sargsyan. Despite the fact that no special regime was announced, the inter-regional communication is under heavy control, the right to travel is violated and other special measures are taken that violate human rights in Armenia. This situation needs to be investigated very thoroughly, and before that, all financial and other aid and support to Armenian government must be withheld.
During the last 5-6 days, more than 400 citizens were in fact kidnapped from the streets and their homes and were kept in military bases and not at police stations, as the law requires. Military bases and military personnel have no authority over civilians in a non-war situation or when no special regime is in effect.
No documentation was made for those people when they were taken under military control. This is a violation of several laws and Constitution of Armenia. The goal was to keep people out of streets and not to allow them to participate in mass protests. People were severally bitten there, kept without food and drink for more than 13 hours.
Police also used criminal authorities such as a member of Armenian Parliament Mher Sedrakyan (known as Tokhmakhi Mher, notorious criminal in Armenia) and Vstrechi Aper (one of the most dangerous criminals in Armenia who has ties with the brother of the president Serj Sargsyan). These criminals organized an action to kidnap and bit activists and make treats to keep people away from protests, especially after violence in Sari Tagh district in Yerevan.
Current process in Armenia is not an act of violence or terrorism by the group of people as the police try to show, but rather a last resort act of rebellion by people of Armenia who, during last few years, has been trying to resolve political issues and political crisis in Armenia through political solutions, elections and referendums, but with no success. Armenian people do not afraid of this group, rather they favor the group’s actions and method. As you might know, in December 2015, the Constitutional referendum was fabricated and new forms of violence and illegal arrests took place by the government.
We want you to investigate all these facts and speak up about what is going on in Armenia, including the application of illegal force to more than 400 people, their status during illegal detention in military camps (#1033 camp in Yerevan and other places), and current status of arrested persons.
The government must release all arrested people and take responsibility for the political process that is currently ongoing. This is a mass protest with the demand of resignation of Serj Sargsyan, who must talk with people and the group. He must not use any force against the group or the people. Instead of negotiating, the government currently uses illegal violent means to resolve the crisis, which can lead to more crisis with more casualties. Armenian society asks international organizations to stop financial and other aid to Armenian Government immediately.
